To be clear , Unpregnantdoesn’t make a joke of miscarriage , and the existent depiction of the procedure is frank and naturalistic . But the film certainly pokes fun at the difficulty of getting an abortion for many woman in the United States - though it ’s not crass , more of a cathartic kind of humor . There ’s one finical vista when Richardson ’s Veronica allow let loose her foiling about the law-makers that call for her road trip and while some may find it preachy , it ’s circumstantially releasing to see a unseasoned miss scream about the way in which the U.S. administration tries to see her consistence . lady friend so rarely get to be wild in a way that might make those around them ( particularly men ) uncomfortable , butUnpregnantdoesn’t shy away from any scene of being a teenaged young woman , including the realities of getting an abortion .
At the core ofUnpregnant’sstory , though , is the friendly relationship between Veronica and Bailey , which is essentially nonexistent at the start of the film , but is rekindled over the course of their trip . Their human relationship is the heart of the movie , and Richardson and Ferreira do a fantastic business of bringing that dynamic to life . The actress have plenty of appealingness in their own solo scenes - and Richardson in particular elevatesUnpregnantwith her nuanced performance - but together , they offer the movie the levity and heart it needs to come after . InUnpregnant , Richardson and Ferreira are joined by some solid supporting cast members , including Giancarlo Esposito in a abbreviated but memorable role as limousine driver Bob , as well as Breckin Meyer and Sugar Lyn Beard as a couple who provide Veronica and Bailey a drive .
