The Transporter
Ridiculously over the top, but still enjoyable.
I was n’t certain what to think of this movie . At first , I was tempted to give it one hotshot out of a potential five . After all , the motion picture has a very thin plot line . Most of the stunt roll around events that are pure luck , physically impossible or both . The acting is n’t even that great . Amber Valletta does the best acting task in this motion-picture show ; what does that tell you ? Still , even after consider all the downsides to this moving-picture show , there was one simple fact that I could n’t escape : I enjoyed the movie . Call it wishful thinker , call it a guilty joy , whatever . I walked out of the field remarking , " That was coolheaded ! " A footling sappy in spots ? Yep . All the law of purgative violated during the action scenes ? Oh yeah . ludicrously over the top ? Absolutely . But so avail me , I enjoyed it .
I only saw part of the originalTransporter , but I feel confident enjoin that it ’s not necessary to see the archetype to savor the sequel . Frank Martin ( played by Jason Statham ) is still a driver , but now he lives in Miami , and he ’s a equipment driver / wise man to a short boy named Jack Billings ( played by Hunter Clary ) . Jack happens to be the Logos of America ’s newly - appointed drug tsar , Jefferson Billings ( make for by Matthew Modine ) , but that ’s where the in force time end . Jefferson has had very little contact with his son , and his marriage to his wife Audrey ( recreate by Amber Valletta ) is seriously on the rocks . fortunately for Jack , he has Frank as a Padre soma . They ’re bestest chum chum . All together now : Awwwwww … Now here ’s a tough pop music quiz : What must of necessity happen when a bottom - kicking tough guy with a heart of gold starts to bond with a small boy who ’s like a son to him ?
Of naturally , all the groundwork has been laid for a kidnapping . That part was not surprising to me ; what really surprised me was how utterly ridiculous it all was . Frank aim Jack to a doctor ’s appointment , but unbeknownst to him , some uncollectible guys have show up first . After several minutes of " doctor " mixing up their name and stories , Frank starts to get leery . After bursting into the wait room , he just scarce wield to stop Jack from getting injected with a very unsavory intermixture . At that level , the imitation doctors and fake receptionist become very cranky , and the amount of ammunition they set down is enough to make Charlton Heston a staunch counselor-at-law of hit man dominance . Despite all the ammo and enough explosions to gut the position , Frank and Jack make it out alive . Such is the suspension of skepticism required to properly enjoy this picture .
As it turns out , the baddies bring for someone named Gianni ( played by Alessandro Gassman ) , and the fake receptionist is his woman , Lola ( played by Kate Nauta ) . Before Frank can get Jack through the logic gate of his star sign , Lola hijack the car and evidence Frank to start drive . After a serial publication of ridiculously over the top chase scenes , they end up at the pier , where Jack is kidnapped and Frank barely escapes with his life . At that point , Frank dedicates every wake second of his life to regain Jack and getting him home safely to his mother . As luck would have it , Frank has a champion named Tarconi ( played by Francois Berleand ) who is conveniently able to enter the law database . Using that information , he pop tracking the bad guys down one by one . More ridiculously over - the - top action scenes take place , although I must say that I really savor the scene where Frank takes out something like a dozen high-risk guys with little more than a firing hosepipe . Even Jackie Chan is n’t that resourceful most of the time .
By this point , the constabulary are require . ( I require to take this chance to point out that Keith David ’s role as a police detective is a full permissive waste of his tremendous talents . ) Everyone is caught by surprisal when the law suddenly find Jack in a vanguard , apparently dependable and unscathed . But Frank is n’t fooled , oh no no no ! He cursorily finds out that there ’s far more to Gianni ’s sinister plot than just the kidnapping of a little male child , which leads to the line you always pick up in the commercial message and preview : " This is more than just a snatch . " There are so many questions at this item . Will Frank save the daytime without getting his lawsuit wrinkled ? Will the bad guys get what ’s add up to them ? Will a ten thousand of complications develop to make it ten time harder for Frank to deliver his intended hindquarters - kicking to the bad guy ? Will it involve quite a little of action scene that range from implausible to downright physically impossible ? ( As an example , there ’s a setting where Frank dodges bullets . Did n’t we seeThe Matrixalready ? ) It boggles the head .
Despite all the giddiness and suspension of skepticism , the pic was still quite pleasurable . It entertained me and put a grinning on my face , which is more than I can say for most of the movies out there right now . It ’s a great Zea mays everta moving-picture show ; if you go in with appropriate anticipation , you might just relish it .
