The Losers
Screen Rant reviewsThe loser
So for the PG-13 activity crowd , The Losersis the movie that is kicking off the pre - summer motion-picture show season . Yes , we hadKick - Ass , but its gas constant - rated lifelike violence and language kept a lot of citizenry aside . The dubiousness is , does this film do the line it sets out to do ?
Kind of .
The Losersis found on a DC comic book series that I ’ve never interpret , so I do n’t recognize if it adheres closely to the source material or deviates a little or a lot . From everything I ’ve seen in the trailers and clip , the film struck me as another riff onThe A - Team(movie version open up this summer ) . Still , who does n’t like the story of a bunch of hard - nosed extra ops guys with heart of gold who are wrong by someone in the government and have to restitute their adept name ( did I mention this reminded me ofThe A - squad ? ) .
As the film opens we ’re precede to our hardy band of ruffianly guys . They ’re SO tough that when they play cards instead of bet money they depend loaded guns and knives . The card game is entail to introduce us to the person in the team , but right from the startle it seems constrained . I was reminded of the opening scene ofEagle Eye(not a great film by any mean value ) where we are introduced to Shia Lebeouf ’s eccentric - by the end of that very short prospect we not only have an first-class sense of exactly who he is , but he also seems like a real soul . Here , everyone feels like composition board cutouts rather of real , live frame and stock characters . More like imitation .
But I digress .
They ’re in Bolivia and are " painting " a object so that a jet can come in and bombard it to smithereens . It seems that a big drug grower / dealer lives there - job is , after their loss leader Clay ( Jeffrey Dean Morgan ) gives the green light source , a truckload of kid arrive on the scene ( they ’re being used as " mule " to channel the drug ) . Clay endeavor to call off the bombardment , but a mysterious " Max " ( Jason Patric ) is on the radio set and reverse Clay . The Losers are black ops guys with a heart of atomic number 79 , so they attack the pack themselves in gild to relinquish the tike .
In the end things go dreadfully wrong , The Losers are dare dead and they steady down in for a low - key life in Bolivia . Of course Clay wants to track down and kill Max , and along comes Aisha ( Zoe Saldana , looking very raging in this moving picture ) with a proposal for Clay that will help him get back to the States and get justice ( or revenge , if you rather ) .

Members of the gang are suspicious of Aisha but Clay overrule them - eventually they make it back to the U.S. and contrive to go after Max , who turns out to be a eminent floor someone or other in the CIA . Many explosions and much gunfire ensues .
Now I know what they were going for here : A fun natural action flick with sympathetic characters . The Losersdoesn’t aspire to be anything more than a popcorn picture show - but even in that kind of moving picture you have to be at least partially sucked into the film and find the character believable , or at least palpate a horse sense of connection to them . The job with the picture show is that for the most part , the members of the team just finger like imitation spirt poor dialog . Also the film tries oh - so - hard to be " coolheaded . " You ’ve convey the requisite dim - mo pellet of the team walk towards the television camera , ( non-)witty dialog and yet more cagy way to signal in what locating a conniption is taking place ( can we PLEASE go back to just plain old blank textbook at the bottom of the screen instead of make it look like it ’s part of the environs ? ? ) .
Now , as a popcorn picture , that ’s not to say I did n’t wish it . But it DID take an awfully long clip for me to warm up up to it . About 2/3 of the way in it finally started to overcome its awkwardness and the theatrical role start to feel more real and grow on me . The sheer runaway full thing in the movie is Chris Evans - at first his jape fall flat but start about halfway through the film he ’s hysterical . Best tantrum in the moving picture postulate place when they invade " Goliath " military headquarters ( yes , that ’s really the name of the bay window ) . Some of it was show in the house trailer but the entire scene here is gold . The other penis of the squad are actually generate some dialog from this point on that makes them seem human towards the end of the film as well .

On the other script , Jason Patric ’s character Max was , excuse the politically incorrect terminus , retarded . Patric ham it up more than Travolta in any recent moving-picture show where he plays a scoundrel ( if you’re able to conceive that ) , and within the linguistic context of the film he was SO much an over the top , figuratively moustache - whirl scoundrel that it was just ridiculous .
notice to parents : It ’s pretty violent for a PG-13 moving-picture show and has a couple of clean aroused scenes as well .
mayhap the continuation will be good …
