To that end , Lowery touches upon the contrasts of the real and ideal , of ego and hesitance , the innate world and illusion , life sentence and death . Andrew Droz Palermo ’s lush cinematography plays up these elements , with the promising , almost dreamlike place setting of some scenes being in stark opposition to the foggy and grimness of others . The Green Knightis advance even further by a fascinating functioning by Patel , whose subdued hesitancy grows more profoundly on his journey . Gawain differentiate one of Patel ’s best performance in a long occupation of subtle , sure-footed portrait .
