Strays , the raunchy new movie from theatre director Josh Greenbaum , takes the exact opposite caterpillar track . labor the R rating to the extremum , Straystakes its eponymous pups on their own adventure , albeit one with drugs , many peter jokes , and lots and lots of poop . This is not a motion-picture show that will appeal to everyone , and once in a while seems driven more by daze value than anything else . Though it take a leak some attempts at finding unfeigned heart ( and does at times succeed),Strays ' counterpoint tone wee-wee for an awkward , intermittently funny lookout man .
Sweet terrier Reggie ( Will Ferrell ) thinks he has the perfect life with owner Doug ( Will Forte ) , who loves to play catch with him over and over again . What he does n’t actualize is that Doug , a slothful , repugnant someone , abominate him with every fiber of his being , and that the game of catch are meant to send him away . After Doug leave Reggie hours away in an unfamiliar metropolis , the tiny puppy meets Bug ( Jamie Foxx ) , a street - wise stray who speedily takes Reggie under his wing and teach him the ways of being alone as a dog .
