Some Like It Rareis a dark horror drollery that is as gruesome as it is ferociously funny . Some of the best bits from the film are the back - and - away conversations between Vincent and Sophie , whose marriage is n’t exactly what it used to be but whose adventures in hunting vegan brings them together . Sophie is oddly turned on by Vincent going after vegans , taking delight in his attempts to finally ill-treat up in a way she has been want for a while . Vincent , meanwhile , flavor in the idea of being successful enough to one - up their millionaire blunderer rivals and friend . Foïs and Eboué ’s alchemy is terrific and their discussion beleaguer the staging of their lineament ' next kills lie of some of the darkest and most comical moment in the motion picture .
Some Like It Raremocks meat eaters and vegan likewise , though it positions the former as the heartless killers who will do anything to keep their business organisation kick the bucket , humans be beshrew . Vegans , on the other hand , seem extreme only to those who are n’t uncoerced to give up what they love and recognise in term of their gastronomy and business modelling . The film positions its fiber as being unapologetic about their deportment ; their absurdness , along with their offensive moments become all the more uncomfortably queer . The pic does n’t set itself up as a column of ethical motive . Rather , the colored comedytakes guesswork at the meat industry , but most of the film works on the nose because it does n’t take itself badly at all . While Sophie and Vincent do n’t instantly ponder what it is they ’re doing , their military action are left to be judged by viewers .
The cast ’s performance are great , with Eboué and Foïs excelling comedically . Every billet , be it juiceless , condescending , or absurd is delivered with fantastic comedic timing . The pair pick up the breakup of their characters , while showcasing the dour humor that stems from their compulsion , which bring back the spark in their life . The film does n’t hold back on the absurdity and neither do Eboué and Foïs in their portrayals of an unhinged couple . As Vincent and Sophie carry on feign they ’re vegan to explore out potential quarry , there is a sense that their pursuits can only last so long before they ’re caught .
To that final stage , the duo ’s hunting montages become repetitive and a bit tiresome as the hearing delay for the other shoe to drop off . It ’s entertaining to watch them work because it ’s when the film is at its most ludicrous , but it does wear down off after a while , choke on for long than need be with no real grapheme development in the lag . What ’s more , the comment could have been a lot more biting , withSome Like It Rarebarely fag past the surface , content to wade in the shallow end of the pond without getting too deep . Despite these speed bumps , the drollery is entertaining and viewers will more than belike express mirth at the ridiculousness of it all .
