Marks : There were a lot of question that we feel were still unanswered in the story . Not the least of which is that the claim character does n’t become the form of address character . And yeah , that ’s really when you have history on your side , what you do n’t have on your side is this fantastic book go forward . There are no roads where we ’re going .
And I would be lying if I tell we have the solvent properly now . We have been speak with one of our diachronic advisors who we cherish , and tattle just about , “ recount us a little more about William Adams here and Tokugawa Ieyasu there , and tell us about some unexampled characters and some new thing that are going on . And OK , yeah . Interesting . ”
And really just building that together into a shape that started to feel like , “ Oh , I think wehaveto do this . I think we reallylovethis idea . ” And I want to make that point especially clear , that what our document disclose to ourselves and to FX as collaborators is that we know how all of this ends in the final moment . And once we saw that moment , we allege , “ Oh , now we have to get to that . Now we have to do that . ” And that felt much more honorable in the fashion we were look .

Shōgun, released in 2024, is set in Japan during 1600 at the onset of a significant civil war. It follows Lord Yoshii Toranaga as he battles political adversaries on the Council of Regents, while a European ship mysteriously appears in a nearby fishing village, complicating the tides of power.

Season 2 Of The FX Show Faces One Big Challenge
The announcement that theShōgunseason 1 finalemay not be the final stage of the melodic phrase after all came as something of a surprisal , especially to those intimate with Clavell ’s source material . The 10 installment of season 1 , after all , adapt the entirety of the novel , seemingly bringing the story to a end . This means that prospectiveseasons 2 and 3 wo n’t be draw from any source material , with Marks and Kondo instead extrapolating the journeys of the role from where Clavell ’s fib left off .

This understandably raises question about tone and whetherShōgunseason 1 ’s radiate reviewsare repeatable in time of year 2 and beyond without the same source material .
