Shark Night 3Dwas direct by stuntman - turn - theater director David R. Ellis , the military personnel behind such films asFinal Destination 2,Snakes on a Plane , andThe Final Destination . There is a competent hand evident in howShark Nightis construct - there ’s even a lilliputian hint of flair , and some fun filming techniques used throughout the motion-picture show . Most notable are the underwater POV sequences , which are immersive - at times tense - moments , brought to life through the use of 3D.

The playscript by Will Hayes ( Assy McGee ) and newcomer Jesse Studenberg , however , is far less modest in its ambitions . Unlike Ellis , the writers attempt to make this write up much more than it is or ever could be - they practice an to a fault - complicated game to explain the shark rampage , while at times trying to interpose the film with both genuine drama and social comment   - somewhere between the repeated 3D close ups of half - bare bodies . The only thing the writer care to achieve with their misplaced ambition are moments where the already - fragile maudlin spell gets shattered by attempts at sincerity . Social commentary ?
