The idea thatthere ’s an organized army of Starborn out there somewhere , sending waves of flock to prevent anyone they deem unworthy from claiming the Artifacts , is terrifying . Who are they to estimate the player character ’s Charles Frederick Worth ? Would the macrocosm be good or bad off if someone else were to claim the Artifacts ? What terrible visions could they ordain on the world if these corking powers were to hang into the wrong hands ?
In some dialogue , the Emissary observe offhand that Starborn throughout the galax share their belief system , and aspire to prevent the musician character and other terra incognita from claiming inordinate power .

But any sense of submerging is shattered almost immediately , becausethese Starborn ambushes are too easy . Fire a few rounds at them , and they go down almost instantly . The thespian character is loose to shrug , loot their bodies , and move on . These encounters do n’t even feel like self-aggrandizing Bos fights that player must overcome before claiming some unique wages . They nonplus no risk to the player , and certainly are n’t a roadblock to get along - if anything , they ’re just detain the inevitable .

Starfield’s End Game Would Be Much Cooler If Starborn Ambushes Were Harder

These abbreviated encounters may seem inconsequential , butimagine how much more interesting they could makeStarfield ’s end game if they really set a challenge . They could be like miniatureversions ofStarfield ’s final boss , pulling off unbelievable feats with their Starborn powers . It only makes sense in the context of use of the lore : even attempting to detect an Artifact requires great courage and metier .
This would greatly raise the stake of each Starborn battle , as the player would be hale to realise the risk of letting the Artifacts fall into the wrong work force . The enemy Starborn could make purpose of legendary weapons and nigh - imperviable armor , the sort of thing that most can only hope to collect from years of interstellar exploration . These could even provide extra wages for the player , creating an extra inducement for Artifact hunting .
Moreover , these more powerful Starborn would make each tripper to a temple , each recovery of an Artifact , more memorable . As it is , they all kind of blend together , much likeStarfield ’s cookie - cutlery planets . It ’ll forge home the point that military group beyond the player ’s understanding hump more about the Artifacts than they do , and they ’ve made it their goal to keep the role player from learning more . It ’ll make the effort to find the Artifacts feel much more worthwhile and memorable .
Very Hard can give these fight enough dynamism , but for the really interested , Starfield ’s new Extreme difficulty mode can make them even more impactful . Extreme ask the player to give these conflict everything they ’ve got , using every Starborn tycoon and healing item to its fullest potential . They ’ll also have to contend with more severe environmental effects , and choose the correct weapon to fall into place the Starborn ’s armour .
These underwhelming Starborn ambushes seem like a case of wasted potential , but there ’s always room for advance . Starfieldcould always increase the difficulty of these Starborn , or impart young remnant plot encounters that actually place a challenge to the musician . TheShattered SpaceDLC , in particular , is perfectly poised to create a much more interesting end game . Even the slightest alteration would make an enormous difference , bringing new challenge and high wager toStarfield .
