No Country for Old Men
Another fascinating and unpredictable character-driven movie from the Coen brothers.
I go intoNo Country For Old Menonly knowing that everyone has been talking about how excellent it is , but not really knowing too much about the plot . As it turn out , it was different from even what trivial I cogitate I know about it .
snuff it into a film by the Coen brothers you always roll in the hay that you ’re going to get some interesting characters and an unconventional story , and it ’s no different here . No Country For Old Menis all about the part and as far as story goes , it ’s one of those photographic film that you really ca n’t presage what ’s going to take place next .
Tommy Lee Jones plays Ed Tom Bell , a sheriff in a small Texas township who is the third generation in his kinsperson to bear that placement . He ’s been a sheriff for a very long time and you may say that his laid back style ( and that of anterior era sheriff ) no longer fits with what ’s going on in the universe of crime today . Along with a younger deputy , he come across a scattered criminal offence scene that is what remains of a major drug / money interchange go terribly bad .
Prior to the sheriff ’s involvement , Llewelyn Moss ( play by Josh Brolin ) has come across this scene the day before and terminate up take the air by with $ 2 million in hard cash . Of course we realize that someone will come look for this money , but we are unprepared for the calm , cold-blooded Anton Chigurh ( played with an eerie quiet by Javier Bardem ) . This reference is no doubt destined for motion-picture show infamy , and almost seems like he was lifted from a Quentin Tarantino motion-picture show .
Moss however , is no child’s play . Our introduction to him shows him to be a cool and methodical character himself ( he is a Vietnam vet ) and despite the risk he is dictated that he and his wife end up with the money .
Basically the movie is the intertwining of three taradiddle : Moss ' , Sheriff Bell and Anton . It ’s less about Moss getting away with the money or Anton find it than it is about get to really know these graphic symbol . Really that ’s the highlight of film and the story ( much like defenders of ABC ’s TV seriesLost ) is simply there to support the characters and not the other way around . However it works much better here than it does on that show .
Right from the start I treasure the acquisition of the Coen brothers , with the film having one of the slowest moving possibility that I can withdraw ever find out , while simultaenously NOT being the least bit boring . Neat trick , that .
The picture is quite tearing , sometimes in suprising ways , with Anton dispatching at least one dupe in a style suitable of James Bond moving-picture show IMHO .
If there was anything I did n’t like , it was the basically negativist attitude the motion-picture show assume towards drug - related crime ( perhaps it was just realistic ? ) , the mode it seemed to become very garbled at the very remainder and the fact that it just stops abruptly without what you would conventionally call " an ending . " When the reference suddenly appeared an audible groan in reality grow from the audience .
No Country for Old Men is a western crime-thriller based on the novel by Cormac McCarthy and directed by the Cohen Brothers. Following three protagonists, the film centers around a large $2,000,000+ cache of dirty money lost near the Rio Grande. With a veteran who finds it, a hitman who will stop at nothing to get it, and a sheriff trying to investigate the crimes connected to it, all roads lead to death and mayhem as they find themselves in each other’s crosshairs.
On the other script , while I did n’t find the destination satisfying , the trip itself was well worth it .
The traditional Coen humor was sprinkled here and there and playing was all around howling : Tommy Lee Jones permit out his inner rodeo rider even more than usual and Josh Brolin was great straddling the logical argument between an average guy and a vet calling up his experience in conflict . Javier Bardem was creepy-crawly and very dispirited key insane .
However the interpolation of Woody Harrelson into the movie almost took me out of it . He ’s not in it long and it almost seems like he ’s just in the movie because he ’s friends with the Coen brothers and they decided to write a lowly part for him
No Country For Old Menis also neat for post - viewing conversation : Several story point are forget less than completely do and you may moot with your friend what really end up happening with sure aspects of the film .
If you ’re a fan of Coen brothers ' past efforts likeFargoandBlood Simpleyou’re really going to savour this . And if you ’re not familiar with those , it ’s well deserving moderate out as an introduction to their style of moving-picture show fashioning .
