Night Teeth
Directed by Adam Randall from a screenplay by Brent Dillon , Night Teethis a chill drive , one that has a few minute of propelling Energy Department but is ultimately something that will entertain only once . While the flick is indeed nice to wait at , it involve to dial up on the playfulness and silliness because it come across a chip monotone at times . It lack some excitement as the action is minimal and the lamia doing what they do well is often offscreen . Nox Teethis not reinvent the wheel , but it is a fun neon - drenched romp that will sure as shooting snuff out viewers ' thirst for vampire narrative .
Night Teeth follows Benny ( Jorge Lendeborg Jr. ) , a immature human with dreams of have it in the music business , but is somewhat hesitating about the endeavour despite being ambitious . Little does he know while he is pluck at school day , his brother Jay is running a secret crew in Boyle Heights , project to protect human race from vampire in a armistice that has recently crumble . After offer to assist his sidekick out with his chauffeur job , Benny unwittingly gets enclose up in a vampire scheme that put him in a railcar with two dangerous vampires , Blaire and Zoe ( Debby Ryan and Lucy Fry ) .

The first thing to observe is thatNight Teethis visually pleasing . The film manages to avoid making everything out of the question to see . Every underframe is well - lit with the supporter of Los Angeles ’s atomic number 10 - based firing , as well as some clever yield excogitation that have everyone looking their best and seeable . This is no nitty - mettlesome vampire flick , with everyone slinking in the shadows . Night Teethis not afraid of using artificial light , and it is so much better for it . The output quality kick upstairs what could have been a generic - look lamia actioner into a sultry neo - noir romance . Someone definitely took some government note while watchingJohn Wickand also borrowed one of its star , Alfie Allen , who is basically toy the same gangster magnate aspirant .
Raúl Castillo waltzes in with a self-confidence that will make just about anyone with a beat heart swoon . Despite having little cover time , he does the best with what he is given . Lendeborg Jr. is a delicious hint , play the wide - eyed human who by chance cross route with vampires . Night Teethdoesn’t strain to be a “ coming - of - age ” story but there could have been a scrap more inject into the character ’s spark to earn the choices he makes toward the terminal of the film . However , Lendeborg Jr. is so magnetic and devote his character the depth that is miss in the script . Allen is very much eccentric - cast here , but he knows what is expected of him and delivers . For the most part , everyone jazz what they are doing , they flirt to their strengths , and they do n’t permit anything feel bum or too serious . Just as the production of the film create a sure tone that straddles that assembly line , the role player adapt to it .
The motion-picture show does suffer greatly with the function pick the actress are given . There are four noteworthy role for char , with a fifth that is woefully fridged rather apace in the scuttle and the sixth being Benny and Jay ’s Abuela who is an absolute delight . Megan Fox and Sydney Sweeney , drawing card in the lamia man , have one rummy scene . candidly , Megan Fox unfeignedly deserves more . She is given little to do in a tiny theatrical role that does nothing more than give consultation one banger quote that fan will function with for months . Fox is misunderstood and underutilized ; she would have been better suited for one of the two vampire leads , the kind - hearted femme fatale Blaire or the dastardly bloodthirsty vampire Zoe .
Sweeney is similarly miscast ; like Fox , she has standardized capabilities to play either Blaire or Zoe , preferably Blaire as she is a more age - appropriate match for Lendeborg Jr. While Ryan and Fry are not necessarily spoiled , they just feel out of position . Fry ’s Zoe is a more or less amusing villain that is reminiscent of a baddie that would fit into aTwilightfilm . Ryan , on the other hand , seems rather world-weary and ca n’t quite pull off the kind - hearted femme fatale . The two also have little chemical science and Lendeborg Jr. is the one carrying the chemistry with Ryan for their character ’s romance . If the casting was flipped around , with either Fox or Sweeney take on Zoe and Blaire , severally , then the pic would still be lack in terms of action , but the cast would be consummate .
That said , the film knows how to limit the mood and zigzag up the anticipation , but it never delivers that killer setback . Perhaps a manager more skilful at action at law could have made something of it , but that is simply not the case here . Borrowing the words of the great Aretha Franklin , Night Teethis but a “ beautiful nightdress , great gowns ” case of movie . This does n’t portend well for a rewatch , but it is gracious to watch at least once . However , it might be revisit every Halloween just because it ’s pretty to look at , and the ensemble is jolly interesting .
