I stopped watchingMegamindclips and trailers over a month before this movie opened . It was n’t sluttish , because between dawdler , clips and featurettes , over 30 videos have been released for the movie ( braggy , crowing energy there ) . After watching the movie I checked out the 3rd prevue , and I ’m beaming I did n’t see it beforehand because it have away a TON about the movie .
Since I avoid so much media , I did n’t really have much of an idea in my brain regarding what the movie would be like beyond the initial trailer or two . I liked the idea a lot : A riff on theSupermanorigin , with another infant that arrived on earth at the same time but ferment out to be a super - villain . Heck , that ’s an interesting set up for a unconstipated , " serious " superhero movie - but with Will Ferrell , Tina Fey , David Cross and Jonah Hill , plus Brad Pitt overact it up it seemed like it could be great played as a clowning .
However decent from the scratch while the concept and place up was funny , the humor feel a bit strained - like it was shooting for something butjustmissed it . It move through Metroman and Megamind ’s childhood rather promptly , and there are a few laughs with yuppie mini - Metroman impressing his fellow classmates and some pathos where mini - Megamind is have-to doe with with his outsider condition . While still young , Megamind has an epiphany : If he ca n’t be successful at being good , then he ’ll just be as bad as he can be - and he surpass at it .
His puerility rivalry with Metroman goes on into maturity where they have a history of heroic conflict and Megamind terminate up in prison . Megamind always kick the bucket after Metroman ’s " Lois Lane " ( voiced by Tina Fey ) . So often , in fact that she ’s bored instead of panic-struck when he charm her .
By misapprehension , Megamind ends up achieving everything he ’s ever wanted - and as expected , it ’s not all it ’s cracked up to be . One thing take to another and eventually he go down for Fey ’s character ( Roxanne ) , and you know how the previous beauty and the creature story goes . One problem is that the film does n’t really seem to jazz what to do after Megamind inadvertently achieves his end very early on in the plastic film . Sure , they sleep together where they want to go with the overall Megamind reference arc , but it feels like they were at a personnel casualty as to how to get him there and just came up with " something . "
The voice work by everyone was very serious , the animation was great and even the 3D was well done . One thing that strike me about superhero CGI - revive films is how nerveless they manage to make the " superhero - ing " look . The fight scenes , action at law shots and especially the television camera angles and cinematography of the flying scenes made me long for a live action superhero movie that would be as compelling when it come to those types of shots .
On the other helping hand , where I went in really wanting to laugh out loud at a funny animated film - I mostly laugh softly ( slimly ) . Towards the ending of the film there were a couple of laugh out flash moments for me - and interestingly the tale becomes more piquant as we delve deep into Megamind ’s heart . There were some nods to other films ( one very Superman - related that was risible at first but then outstay its welcome ) .
I really want to likeMegamindmore … maybe it ’ll be one of those picture that wins me over upon a 2nd wake - once my expectations are out of the way . Kids will belike enjoy it .
