At times it seemed like a suspense thriller ( distinctive of Shyamalan ) , at other times a very fond write up , but then it also veered of into uncanny comedy and rum ( for the film ) tarry shots of " the lady " . The movie opens with a crude liveliness telling the story of how mankind ( or is that peoplekind these day ? ) had a relationship with creatures who lived in the ocean long ago and looked like us . These creature were full of sage wisdom that they dispensed to us poor pudden-head Earth’s surface dwellers . Due to some ancient real acres boom ( I kid ) as citizenry migrate inland , they turn a loss touch with the sea inhabitant , which of course is when we start going downhill as a race into warfare and the corresponding .

The other thing that really astounded me about this photographic film was the appearance of boom mike . You recognise what those are , those small mike that you sometimes see plunge down into the picture from above when see a sitcom or newscast . Well here , I saw a mic dada into the conniption and my jaw hit the storey ! I mean we ’re not babble out some newbie theater director here , right ? Well that turned out to be only the first of MANY shot of bonanza mics appearing in scenes throughout the ENTIRE picture ! Now this was perturb on many levels . First , I kept consider " How in the heck did he neglect that , SO many times and in so many scenes ? ? " , next , whenever a mic appeared ( and sometimes it was two ) most of the audience giggled or laughed . This happened during view where it was obvious that he was n’t going for an intentional laugh . And third , I observe thinking , " OK , this guy ’s a pro … he must have done this on aim , but WHY ? ? "

I only saw the most tenuous of connexion and in only one view . If you take scene out of context , much of it was very good . But the collocation of unknown humor with tense / scary prospect combined with the countless appearance of boom mics just made for a very odd experience .
I sure as shooting would n’t advocate this to anyone and I doubt many others who ’ve see it will recommend it either .
