UnfortunatelyGhost Riderlives up to its pre-release buzz: Boring and bordering on cheesy.
As I had written earlier here at Screen Rant , I went in to Ghost Rider without any preconceived notion about the fictional character since I had never read the comic book . I was also gently affirmative ( base on one of the trailers ) that it might flex out to be at least skillful , if not great .
Oh well …
For those of you unfamiliar with the theatrical role , Ghost Rider is actually Johnny Blaze ( seriously ) who here is played by Nicolas Cage . I care take in Cage onscreen , although there ’s a " humdrum " to his performances from cinema to film that ’s starting to wear a little thin on me . Nothing personal against the guy , but he has such a distinctively quirky delivery that it ’s starting to shadow the characters he plays .

Of course as happens in this sort of picture , it seems there ’s a young’un ( call Blackheart ) wanting to take things over who think it ’s time for the " old adult male " to step apart . He wants the long - lost 1,000 soul contract and bring along demons representing dry land , air and water . I guess " fervor " is already take by Ghost Rider .

What ’s kind of cool : The initial transformation of Johnny Blaze into Ghost Rider , the chop , watching him sit and tear up the environs . Again , Elliot is another fibre I care , but it felt up like he was transmit Kris Kristofferson fromBladehere . Oh , and Eva Mendes playing the love interest is of class , very hot look .

And then there is the CGI . More than anything it prompt me of the terrible movieVan Helsing . The abbreviated glance of Blackheart and Mephistopheles demon side look like the shade gist from the Disney ride " The Haunted Mansion . " It just looked like a 2 - 500 acoustic projection onto the actor ’s face . It was a definite PG-13 revulsion effect , not too scary as to not freak out the numerous 4 class olds in the consultation ( which it did n’t ) but then so " clean " looking as to just seem all fake .
I didn’thateGhost Rider , but I did n’t like it either . More than anything I walked forth with a intuitive feeling of indifference .
