Eagle Eye

I hate review movies like this one because you just ca n’t win . Eagle Eyeis one of those film that you may go over three different ways from Sunday . You could say it ’s " a gripping kick ride , " " a ridiculous action film with delusions of grandeur , " or " a middle of the route legal action movie " all depending on your finicky point of view or even the mood you ’re in when you sit down in the theater .

This review hasminorspoilers , but does not give away the conclusion . If you plan on visualise this Ireallyencourage you to stay aside from anything that might give it away including spoilerish reviews , wireless talk show host , etc . , if you do n’t desire the movie ruin for yourself !

So no matter which way I go , people will come out of the woodwork to say I ’m crank , a jerk , or I should n’t be review moving picture . Luckily I ’m from New Jersey and I can care it , so … bring it ! :-)

At the start ofEagle Eye , my thought was " woah , this is choke to be an vivid , gripe - ass movie . " The opening scene is in a military command centre , where an orbit somewhere in the Middle East ( presumably Iraq ) is being monitored by both soldier on the land and high - technical school aerial surveillance . They think they have the combining weight of Osama bin Laden in their sights , but according to a computer analysis there is only a 51 % probability that it is him , and he and a group of men are either at a burial or a arm memory cache .

A decision has to be made whether to strike the grouping via a missile attempt or abort . The command officer and the President both harmonize it ’s worth the jeopardy to take them out , but Defense Secretary Callister ( Michael Chiklis ) differ . He is obviously reverse and the strike is put to death .

Cut to a little poker secret plan between Jerry Shaw ( Shia LaBeouf ) , where we see demonstrate that he is a slick , firm talker as he relieves his friends of their hard currency in a very mirthful scene . alas his sorcerous personality has n’t been enough to raise his station in life as we see him walk out into his line as a " sales associate " at Copy Barn ( think Kinkos ) .

He ’s pretty much deadened broke and live in a sordid little apartment . Turns out he has a twinned crony who died very recently and was the complete opposite of him . Overacheiver , magnificent , military academy , yadda yadda yadda , while Jerry is fundamentally a drifter , estrange from his father ( William Sadler ) who is disgusted by his adrift existence .

When Jerry reelect home he attain up the ATM motorcar and finds he has a balance wheel of $ 750,000 . Of naturally , he ’s a mo freaked , especially when the machine spits out thousands of dollars at him ( nevermind the ATM bound of $ 500 / day ) . When he arrives at his apartment it is stock to the gill with everything a terrorist would rate from The Home Shopping Channel : Hundreds of pounds of ammonium ion nitrate , military dark vision goggles , scopes , automatic weapon , technical school manual for military aircraft … you name it .

And this is when he receive the cryptical phone call say him he has less than a second to get out of his flat because the FBI is on its way . Being the anti - establishment , rebellious guy cable he is , he assure her to mob sand . Unfortunately she was n’t kid and the FBI busts in and arrests him .

We see him back in interrogation where federal agent Thomas Morgan ( Billy Bob Thornton ) questions him . essentially ol' Jerry is hose down until a high level FAX comes in stating that he needs to get his one earphone call . You guess it - the enigma dame is on the stock and finagle to mastermind his very luxuriant escape .

And then we have Rachel Holloman ( Michelle Monaghan , who seems to be channel Sandra Bullock ) , single female parent of minuscule Sam ( cute little guy Cameron Boyce ) . She ’s sending him off to Washington D.C. to perform with his school day band for the President and locker . She also receives a sound call from mystery cleaning lady , threatening that her son ’s wagon train will be derailed if she does not do as she is state .

finally Rachel and Jerry add up together and are sent on a cryptical commission of which they know nothing more than whatever their current task is ( which is commonly trying to get away from the self-confidence , leading us to believe that it ’s nothing good ) .

The celluloid also asterisk Rosario Dawson as Zoe , an Air Force investigative - character and was conduct by D.J. Caruso , who previously directedDisturbia(which also starred Shia ) andTwo for the Money(which star Al Pacino ) . Caruso actually does an excellent job with the look of the film , coaxing a " grown - up " functioning from Shia and with stack of gravid action sequences . My only gripe with the action , specifically an early machine chase is once again " shaken tv camera syndrome . " The scenes would have been " actiony " enough without the gain of camera shake and speedy sway . I actually would have enjoyed them more without the extra movement - made it hard to see what the heck was going on .

I think audiences will reply well to this as we ’re coming out of an action movie " dead zone " where there has n’t been anything adrenaline - stimulate at the moving-picture show for a few week . Eagle EyeDOES have plenty of suspense and action , but the trouble was that it started out vaguely realistic and became more implausible as the cinema go on . I always enjoy Billy Bob Thornton on the self-aggrandizing blind and even Rosario Dawson did an admirable job in her role .

However , the level of ascendency over environment and provision for unanticipated condition by the mystery woman eventually ( to me ) wandered over the line into the absurd . There was also no shortage of people getting out of cars that had been totaled with just a scratch .

You ’ll either think the reveal is awesome , or it will take you out of the movie ( for me it did the latter ) . I celebrate want to love the ride , but the absurdities of the photographic film and plot hollow kept nagging at the back of my mind .

There was also the offspring of the film being bracketed by " serious " scenes / messages at the commencement and ending of the picture , which did n’t really fit with the over the top middle .

BTW , if you require to bring kids from around 10 days old and up and you do n’t mind a few " S - bombs " the moving-picture show is n’t TOO violent and there ’s nothing suggestive that ’ll make you want to cover their center .

An action scene from Eagle Eye

Overall I ’d sayEagle Eyewas a decently fun ride that take itself a slight to seriously view the overall level . It might serve to surge you over until James Bond return on November 14th inQuantum of Solace .
