Toni Collette is , as always , engaging to determine and her public presentation here elevatesDream horse cavalry , become average moment into moving excited beats . The remainder of the cast ’s camaraderie and interpersonal chemistry is also lovely , adding layers to scene that would have otherwise fall flat . With its by - the - Word of God storytelling , there ’s not much that pass to elicit ebullience There are a lot of moments that could have dug deep , including a further exploration of Jan ’s interiority . She speaks of passing , butDream Horsebarely brush the theme before moving on to the next thing . In this vein , the moving-picture show is far less interesting because of its ungainly , tardily - go buildup .

Toni Collette in Dream Horse
