Another series that started out awesome but should have quit after the first movie.
Well , dammit , I was really hop that despite all the bad buzz on this matter I might buck the trend and really like it , but , as Alex Trebek might say : " Sorry ….. no " .
Blade : Trinityopens with a voiceover talking about how the moving-picture show have it wrong about lamia . Right off the at-bat we ’re treated to the joys of four - letter words in this little introduction . It is a augury of things to fall . We unfold in Iraq , noontide , with some particular forces - face types dropping from a eggbeater close to some ancient memorial . In another highbrow moment , one of the members of this party ( covered head to toe in protective garb ) flips the bird at the sun . This is the subtle hint that these cat are lamia . Much likeThe Rundown , one of the things that killed this moving-picture show was a lineament that should have been left out entirely : Ryan Reynolds as Hannibal King . Take any scene where there is some adequate legal action or explanation going on and introduce this guy for some spurious , crackbrained , cuss - word - laden dialogue to make you cringe and hope he stops speak before long . I ’ve got ta tell ya , I realize this is stag R , but with the speech in this thing , you ’d think it was written by a 13 yr old who had just discovered the joys of noisome mouthed language . And considering this is rat R , why does it seem like the dialogue is aimed at tell 13 twelvemonth old male child ?
Another affair that drove me bats is that this motion-picture show tries to be so " hip " so often that I blaspheme I think I was going to throw up . At one point David Goyer ( who spell and directed ) poke fun at the film when Reynolds refers to their undercover mathematical group as " The Nightstalkers " and Blade reply that it sounds like it came from a Saturday break of the day cartoon . Unfortunatelyrighton the heel of that scene they rattle off another cutesy name for one of the bullet train that they use .
And what is up with normal hoi polloi being able to take on vampires ? The independent cool construct of the originalBlade(which I really wish , BTW ) is that Snipes can fight back the vampires because he ’s half - vampire himself and has all their strength and speed . tot up civilians to the mix who can also whup the vampires with soldierly humanistic discipline and fancy ( and preposterous ) weapons , and it cheapen the Blade character .
One last thing that bugged me , and it ’s not just in this movie , is the recent trend of putting view in action / horror movies in which guy cable show skin . I ’m not talking the standard shirt - off - show - muscles thing , but the sort of shaft that were once populated by woman . In this movie lamia and their " familiar " have tatoos either on their wrists or the back of their necks which signal ownership . But the Reynolds fiber has his just above the pubic bone for some reason , which is of course show , complete with pant lowered to uncover pubes . Now , discipline me if I ’m awry , but aren’tguysthe basal fair game hearing of these motion-picture show ? Who the heck wants to see that ?
Perhaps David Goyer is take on too much work , or is getting a small too full of himself . I feel it laborious to trust this is the same bozo who wroteDark Cityand the originalBlade . If nothing else , this film suddenly makes me find worried about the upcomingBatman Beginswhich he also recently penned .
Maybeif this had beenBlade : Duetwith just Snipes and Biel , it might have stand a chance at being decent . But I reckon that deed does n’t have quite the same ring to it .
