Bangkok Dangerous
If Nicolas Cage does n’t get a attain film shortly , he ’s going to be designate to doing onlyNational Treasuresequels for the repose of his life . I cognize I was in trouble when the usher I attended ( 11AM on a Saturday ) consisted of me , and two other guys who walked in powerful before the movie started .
That ’s it - 3 people .
InBangkok Dangerous , Nicolas Cage plays an bravo who is the poster son for the word of honor " loner . " He travels the man and does his job with painstaking precision , but he ’s just about had enough and is quick to do one last job and quit .
How do we make out this ?
Via one of the most dreaded movie gimmicks : The Voiceover .
The movie give up and immediately go into a batting cage - voiced narration . I uprise at this immediately as I am NOT a rooter of this style of exposition . normally I find it to be a " cheat " - a slothful way to bring us up to hurrying or say us about a fibre instead of just showing us .
In any casing , I visualize " fine , ok , so they ’re setting the movie up , " so I let it go . The flick went on for a couple of minutes and then : more recital . I actually write in my note " Oh world , the voiceover is continuing . " But if that were my only problem with the movie , it would n’t have been THAT bad .
The chief egress I had with Bangkok Dangerous is that it was overly striking - histrionic to be accurate . It feel like the director was trying too severely , similar to an old Saturday Night Live skit where there are a couple of actor in a picture shout " act ! " " Very in effect ! " " give thanks You ! " It was almost written like one of those old ill write detective novel from the forties : " It was a dark a steamy Nox , the fog rolled in like a hooker schmoozing a ' John ' on a neon - sop street niche . "
It ’s a shame , because there were things I liked about the movie - Nicolas Cage ’s extremely elaborated and methodical planning and execution ( no pun ) of his assassinations , the performance of the unseasoned Thai cleaning lady ( Panward Hemmanee ) who captured his heart , even that of Shahkrit Yamnarm , who play at first the speech boy and then the prentice .
Bangkok Dangerous is a 2008 action film directed by the Pang Brothers and stars Nicolas Cage as Joe, a hitman on an assignment in Bangkok. Joe’s life takes an unexpected turn when he forms emotional bonds with a local woman and a street punk, challenging his solitary existence and professional detachment. The film explores themes of isolation, redemption, and the moral complexities of a life of crime.
But much of the moving picture was pretentious , laughable and predictable . There is one scene where Cage assassinates someone by drown them in a consortium in their fort home complete with guard standing around the syndicate area . How does he do this ? He put down in delay underwater , drags the guy under , holds him under long enough for the guy wire to drown and then swim away subaquatic to avoid detection .
So my query is : Is he an assassin or freak Aquaman ? How did he manage to confine his breath long enough to accomplish all this and outlast the other guy by far ?
There was also a scene where the deaf girl do on phase as a professional dancer in a musical number . I ’m lamentable , but to do that should n’t you really be able to get a line the music ?
The movie almost start to get decent towards the last , but then they had to gas that as well with a ridiculous scene with Cage and a spoiled guy pullulate at each other through a bunch of pee jug from about 10 feet aside . candidly I find that scene to be just obviously stupid .
The interesting thing is that the movie was an American remaking of a Thai celluloid and it was drop a line and directed by the same guys who did the original . Maybe the original just was n’t that great either …
