That seems to be the answer to a wad of weird topic in this film . Nope , Anakin ’s sacrifice really means nothing , because Palpatine was actually in fact , not dead ? Ever ? And was behind all of this ? The whole prison term ? This can not be something that was contrive from the beginning of this trilogy , because it makes perfectly no horse sense . Rey’s Lineage

While that is an issue in its own right field , the fact that Rey is a Palpatine completely ruins her arc about finding a Modern family because her old one abandoned her . This is one of the areas in whichTROSseeks to tear down whatTLJseemed to be doing . It ’s a self-coloured mix of overcorrecting and two directors clashing on a vision , and Rey as a type is the one who put up for it .
Leia
From the showtime , The Force Awakenswas to be Han ’s moving picture , TLJwas Luke ’s andTROSwas supposed to be Leia ’s . unluckily , the passing game of Carrie Fisher made this impossible , and the filmmakers did what they could with unused footage of Leia to make her a presence in the motion picture . It … it is n’t great .

Her most impactful prospect , of trend , is when she achieve out to Ben using the Force , but you just ca n’t avail but question just how different Leia ’s purpose , and the motion picture as a whole , would have been if Carrie Fisher was still around with us today . It would be a mostly unlike moving-picture show , that ’s for sure . Leia did n’t get a chance to fulfill her real design inTROS , and she was n’t done any justice in the final production .
Zorii Bliss
Oh look , it ’s Zorii Bliss , this type that we just made up to totally prove that Poe and Finn do NOT have any sort of a amorous relationship because this is Disney and its 2019 and that dead wo n’t be happening . Zorii is one of many character in the picture show that does n’t … need to be there ? She serve virtually no purpose in this film except to test that Poe is 100 % straight . What a pity .
Rose
BecauseThe Last Jediis basically just not even canyon at this point , that intend that we ca n’t have any of its characters around inTROS , and that include Rose . Kelly Marie Tran ’s Rose was a great character inTLJ.While she was n’t 100 % needed , she was still enjoyable to keep an eye on and a great addition to the universe . InTROS , she is cut back to a backslappin ' pal to Finn and nothing more . She has nigh nothing to do here , which is astonishing considering how there is incessant plot of ground happening in this film all of the clip .
Rey Kills Palpatine
" Once you kill me my DOE will flow into you and you ’ll become me but also no it does n’t because your head is so powerful . " - Palpatine
So , this integral film was rivet on Palpatine ’s desire to get Rey to kill him to admit him to transfer his soulfulness into her body . She just kind of go along with this for a while and listens , as one does , until she does n’t … and then she does kill him … and none of what he allege would happen ends up happening . Yup . Everything vocalize unspoilt here ! Plot is enceinte everything is great . Obviously it ’s because she wo n’t let her dark side act upon her but … is it ? Is that really how matter bring ?
We can go on for hours about how ridiculous , unsound and underserved Ben ’s story is in this film , but let ’s concentre in on his backup dancers for a mo . The Knights of Ren do n’t do ANYTHING in this movie . What is their point ? Is it to sell more action figures ? Well , yes it is … but … ya bonk , game relevance . They deem absolutely no significance in this motion picture whatsoever .
Any Sort Of Emotional Hook
Chewie ’s dead JUST KIDDING he is absolutely fine . C-3PO wo n’t remember his friends ever again JUST banter his retentiveness is back and everything is fine . This movie never permit anything sting . Any time that you mean there ’s about to be some sort of anemotionaloccurrence or a heavy going , nope . Everything is fine and will be situate momentarily , do n’t you vex about it . This movie never lets anything happen , even with so much occur constantly . There are 30 MacGuffins but none that matter or cause anything of government note to happen .
General Hux
Yup , you estimate it , I ’m the undercover agent because me angwy at Kywo Wen . General Hux is treated like infrangible food waste inTROS.He ’s the spy because he ’s like , he ’s kind of mad . Should n’t we have give Kylo and Hux more than thirty seconds of screentime together before Hux decides to betray him and the entire First Order ? Oh , and then verify Hux dies in the most underwhelming manner as possible , to keep the theme of underwhelmingness unattackable throughout the picture show .
All Of Its Characters
With so much happening , TROShas no time to assist any of itscharacters , both honest-to-god and new . No one get under one’s skin a probability to go through any variety of a meaningful bow , and if they do , it ’s a mussy one . No one gets a luck to shine . There ’s so many people and so much plot to bog through . TROSdoesn’t service what makes the humans ofStar Warsso compelling , its characters . Without that , you have nothing .
